Summer is almost over but we cannot loosen up on our sun protection regiment. We came across a great article on best summer skincare tips from dermatologists.

“I always love hearing different approaches to skincare.  My approach is a little different.  I believe that your skincare routine shouldn’t change throughout the year.  You should take the time to select skin care products that you feel as if you can’t live without them.  Your routine should be designed to leave skin in the best condition and shouldn’t take much time to complete.  So if you’re considering altering or cutting back on the products you use during the summer, you may need to re-evaluate the products you’re using.  As they suggested in the article though, when the sun comes out, throw on a hat and sunglasses, and be a little more diligent with sunscreen.  Throughout the year, ALWAYS wear sunscreen on your face, neck, and décolletage, but during the summer remember the tips of your ears, back of your neck, and apply it to your body as shorts and tank tops expose more skin.

There are some times to change your routine.  Listen to your body.  If during the winter months when there is less humidity and indoor heating dries your skin, add extra moisturizer.  Over the years, with pregnancy and aging, the skin may change and prompt alterations to your regimen.  Your provider can help you select the products that are right for you and your skin condition, but ultimately you decide what works best.

There are some procedures that I think are great to add to your routine in the summer.  Since many women don’t wear much make-up in the summer, microdermabrasion and hydra facials are fantastic for giving your skin that extra glow.  Microneedling is my choice for fighting sun damage.  Because it stimulates collagen production, it not only addresses fine lines and wrinkles but reduces dark spots caused by UV rays.  Often overlooked, are Botox and fillers.  Botox is helpful in the summer.  Squinting in the bright sun is a sure way to form lines between your eyebrows.  Sunglass and botox help fight these lines.  Fillers can rejuvenate a face and make you look well-rested by adding a bit of extra structure or help with the hollows under the eyes.  As a result, you may feel more comfortable abandoning make up.”
